Post Summit Update: On December 1st - 3rd 1997, more than 650 participants representing over 300 organizations came together for the Internet Online Summit: Focus On Children. The Summit addressed ways to assure that steps are taken to make the Internet online experience safe, educational and entertaining for children.

Vice President Al Gore, Attorney General Janet Reno, Education Secretary Richard Riley, industry leaders, public interest and childrens advocates were among the summit speakers.

Several major Initiatives emerged from the Summit, including:

The goal of the Internet Online Summit is to bring together public interest groups, the computer and communications industries, government, and citizens to address ways to help ensure that the Internet online experience is safe, educational, and entertaining for Children. The Summit is being sponsored by a diverse group of industry leaders, educators, law enforcement officials, public interest and family advocates seeking common ground to enhance the safety and education of children in cyberspace. A list of participants is also available.
