| WHY: | To address safety and content issues related to children and the new mass medium. The Summit comes about six months after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned sections of the Communications Decency Act as an unconstitutional infringement on free speech, and the White House in a meeting with industry and congressional leaders announced this fall summit to discuss private-sector solutions to on-line content inappropriate for children. |
